The Austerlitz Volunteer Fire Company currently occupies this building on West Hill Road off NYS Route 22. The original building constructed with volunteer labor in 1954 was half the size of the current structure pictured here.

In the 1970s, expansion was needed to house a second truck.  A new generation of volunteers added two large truck bays and an extended banquet hall.

The facility served the community well for the past thirty years despite some major problems, most notably several floods which occured in the mid 1990s, and again in 2000. Efficient heating of the building has also been elusive.

The Austerlitz Fire Company is planning a new facility which will answer the needs of modern firefighting and efficient energy use.
The Austerlitz Volunteer  Fire Company has been designated by the IRS as a 501,c,3 charitable organization.
The energy efficient building will be an emergency center with safety enhancements for fire fighters and visitors, and room to expand easily for additional apparatus and equipment.
